Love Your Library? Put It In Writing!
Do you have a story to tell about how the library has helped or made a difference to you and your family? We’d love to hear from you! We are putting together our annual budget request to Edgewood Council and want to show how the library touches lives. Drop your letters off at the library, or email Library Director Sally Bogie at bogies@einetwork.net. You can also make your pitch directly to council members by sending letters to the borough building.
In the next several weeks all households will receive the library’s annual solicitation for financial support. This year, due to pending grants focusing on the building restoration, gifts can be designated for either library operations or building restoration. Your gift is important in allowing the library to provide you with quality service while maintaining our historic community center. Please consider making a gift today.
Free, one hour and one session computer classes. Space is limited, so call the library to reserve your spot.

Discovering Architectural Clues
to Your Community’s Past
Program on Local Architecture
Bryan van Sweden, an historic preservation specialist from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, will speak on Wednesday, October 22 at 7 pm in the Edgewood Community House Living Room. Using photos of buildings in Edgewood as part of his presentation, Mr. van Sweden believes that buildings offer visual clues to the past; as these clues are assembled the audience will learn how the community has changed over time. This is a cooperative program with the Edgewood Historical Society as part of the library’s 90th birthday celebration. The presentation is a program of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
Memorial and Honor Books
A book will be added to the collection in memory of Linda Boone. The library has received donations in celebration of Beck Lesko’s second birthday and Ernie Dettore’s birthday.
Donate Socks for the Homeless
During October the library is "Putting It's Best Foot Forward" and collecting socks for homeless children, women and men. This is an annual drive conducted in county-wide libraries. Last year 3,711 new socks were collected and distributed. Please help make this drive successful. Socks can be dropped off in the Children's Room at Edgewood or at the Forest Hills branch. The program is sponsored by ACLA and RSVP of Allegheny County.
